I remember watching an interview with the guy that designed the cardassian makeup (but not the costumes IIRC.) The two things I remember are that he really wanted to have a race with a spoon on their forehead, and that if he had known they would be brought back later he wouldn’t have made the design so complicated :P.

It is an impressively complicated bit of makeup, which makes covering it, even partially with those weird helmet things that much stranger.
